Equipment Description
Size exclusion chromatography (SEC) is an analytical technique used to characterize polymers in solution. This technique is also known as gel permeation chromatography (GPC). It enables the determination of the number-average molar mass (Mn), weight-average molar mass (Mw), and polydispersity index (PDI) of materials. In an SEC or GPC column, polymer chains are separated according to their hydrodynamic diameter. This particular instrument allows the analysis of polymers that can only be dissolved at elevated temperatures. It also enables viscosity measurements.
