Membrane Permeability Testing Instrument

Laboratory

Professor Denis Rodrigue’s Laboratory

Department

Department of Chemical Engineering

Manufacturer (model)

Variant / Fisher (3300 / isotemp oven) (homemade)

Equipment Description

The gas transport properties of flat polymer films and hollow-fiber membranes are measured using the variable-pressure/constant-volume method. Single-gas or mixed-gas permeation tests can be performed, as the system is coupled to a gas chromatograph for analysis of the permeate gas. The effects of upstream gas pressure, test temperature, and gas composition in binary mixed-gas tests can be investigated.
