Equipment Description

The research group of Prof. Mario Leclerc specializes in the synthesis and characterization of photoactive and electroactive conjugated polymers. More recently, the group has developed a polymerization method known as direct arylation, which enables the synthesis of high-molar-mass polymers in fewer reaction steps. This novel polymerization method can also be leveraged through academic partnerships or collaborations.


Technical Specifications

This research team, consisting of a research professional and approximately ten graduate students, has extensive experience in developing innovative synthesis methods for monomers, oligomers, and polymers. The group has also established and maintained numerous industrial collaborations by consistently delivering high-quality final products while meeting established deadlines.

All newly synthesized compounds, including intermediates, monomers, oligomers, and polymers, are characterized at a minimum using techniques such as liquid- and solid-state NMR, HRMS, GPC, DSC/TGA, UV–Vis spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and electrochemistry, as well as more specialized techniques when required.

Conditions of Use and rentals

The cost varies depending on the requested synthesis. Generally, the requested molecules are used as proof-of-concept demonstrations to establish feasibility and extrapolate the costs for scaling up to a larger-scale project.

To estimate the production cost of a material, several parameters and specifications must be known, including molecular structure, number of synthesis steps, required time, quantity, purity, and many other technical considerations.
