Laboratory Research
Synthesis of rigid-flexible copolymers with polymer-hinge architectures, whose rigid segments are composed of aramids, amylose, polyethersulfone, polyether ketone, or polyethers. The size and chemical nature of the flexible segment are modulated to optimize crystalline morphology.
Crystallization is characterized using X-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, and atomic force microscopy. The effect of this morphology on the final properties of the material is also investigated.
