Equipment Description

Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy is a technique used to characterize molecules based on the magnetic properties of the atoms they contain. The application of a strong magnetic field alters the energy levels of atomic nuclei, providing valuable information about their nature and molecular environment. In the specific case of the Bruker Minispec 60, the instrument is primarily used to determine the T1 and T2 relaxation times of hydrogen nuclei present in a sample. The resulting data can then be used to determine the fat content of a solid, the free water content of a sample, or to characterize a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging.
