Equipment Description
This instrument enables surface mapping to evaluate surface roughness. It uses a diamond stylus that is brought into contact with the surface of the material being analyzed. As the stylus moves across the surface, its vertical (Z) position varies according to the surface profile. By scanning the surface, three-dimensional images can be reconstructed. The instrument is operated in a cleanroom to minimize potential interferences.
In the laboratory, it is primarily used to measure the thickness of thin films and the surface roughness of materials.
