Equipment Description

Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) is a thermal analysis technique commonly used for the characterization of materials. It allows the determination of the temperatures and energies associated with various transitions, including the glass transition (Tg), melting (Tm), crystallization (Tc), solid–solid transitions (polymorphism), and liquid-crystal transitions. It can also be used to determine the degree of crosslinking of polymers.

In the laboratory, this instrument is commonly used to determine the proportion of the organic fraction of metallic nanoparticles.

  • Temperature range: −150 °C to +700 °C

  • Temperature resolution: 0.2 °C

  • Heating rate: Up to 300 °C/min

  • Cooling rate: Up to 50 °C/min

  • Required sample quantity: 10–15 mg
