Whatever your research project may be, we're confident you've already shared images of your work with your friends or family, images that are worth sharing. So why not share them with us as well?

The goal of this competition is to showcase your projects while demonstrating that science is not just about long, technical papers. It can also be visual, creative, and aesthetically engaging. We therefore encourage students from all research areas within CERMA to participate, whether your work is applied or theoretical, and whether your field is chemistry, medicine, construction and building engineering, statistics, or any other discipline represented at CERMA.

How to Participate

  • Be a CERMA student.

  • Complete the participation form.

  • Submit one image along with an explanatory text that follows the guidelines provided in the participation PDF.

  • Send your image (PNG or JPEG format) and the completed participation form in a single email to: cerma_etudiants@ulaval.ca.

  • Submission deadline: Friday, March 26.

Image Guidelines :

The image must:

  • Be related to your research project.

  • Be any type of scientific image, including (but not limited to) photographs, characterization images, 2D/3D models, statistical visualizations, simulations, graphs, etc.

  • Diagrams are not permitted.

  • Image editing

  • No modifications to the image content are allowed. However, basic image adjustments such as brightness, contrast, saturation, and sharpness are permitted.

Copyright : If you agree to have your image published on the CERMA website and social media platforms, please include a copyright notice directly on the image in the following format: : © First Name Last Name Year. The copyright notice should preferably be placed in one corner so that it does not interfere with the image.

  • Title: Provide a short, accessible title suitable for a general audience.

  • The caption must include: student's name, research group, instrument and/or software used to produce the image

The text must:

  • Be provided in both French and English.

  • Contain 100 to 150 words.

  • Present a scientific description that is clear, concise, accessible, and understandable to members of the CERMA community.

Awards

  • Three prizes will be awarded.

  • The three winners will be selected based on a combination of public voting and jury evaluation.
