This picture is the result of the dispersion of carbon nanotubes in water with the help of a polymeric surfactant, here a water soluble and self-doped conductive polymer. This polymer will then be wrapped around the nanotube cylinder allowing it to be dispersed into water despite its hydrophobic nature. This will give a complex that takes the form of a tree branch that you can see on the picture. Being able to use green solvent like water in order to obtain a material that can maintain good conductive properties is really promising for the replacement of metals like silver. This dispersion also allowed an improvement of the conductivity of the polymer passing from 2 S/cm to 370 S/cm.
