Equipment Description
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) is a thermal analysis technique widely used for materials characterization. It is used to determine the temperatures and associated energies of various thermal transitions, including the glass transition (Tg), melting (Tm), crystallization (Tc), solid–solid transitions (polymorphism), and liquid crystal transitions. The technique can also be used to determine the degree of crosslinking in polymers.
Analyses are performed under an inert nitrogen atmosphere. The instrument is also equipped with a photocalorimetry system that measures enthalpy changes associated with prolonged exposure to visible or ultraviolet light at a controlled temperature.
