Bomb Calorimeter
Laboratory
NSERC–Canlak Industrial Research Chair in Interior Wood Products Finishing
Department
Department of Wood and Forest Sciences
Equipment Description
This instrument consists of a sealed chamber designed to measure the heat released during a reaction carried out at constant volume. It can therefore be used to determine the calorific value of a substance. The bomb calorimeter is particularly useful for studying the combustion of materials and measuring the heat released during the reaction.
