Equipment Description
Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC) is a thermal analysis technique widely used for the characterization of materials. It enables the determination of the temperatures and enthalpies associated with a variety of thermal transitions, including the glass transition (Tg), melting (Tm), crystallization (Tc), solid–solid transitions (polymorphism), and liquid crystal transitions. The technique can also be used to determine the degree of crosslinking in polymers. Analyses are performed under an inert nitrogen atmosphere. To ensure accurate and reliable measurements, the instrument is regularly calibrated using indium as a reference standard (Tm = 156.6 °C; ΔH = 28.45 J g⁻¹).
